Welcome to The Valley Parish

Hello, and welcome to The Valley Parish, comprising East Dean, Singleton, West Dean with Charlton, Chilgrove and Binderton.

I am the Reverend Sarah Manouch and I have been the Rector of the Parish since September 2020. I am a House for Duty Priest, which means I am part time and so my usual working days in the parish are Friday, Saturday and of course Sunday. As well as being the Rector here, I am also the Deputy Manager of the St Olav Christian Bookshop in Chichester.

My first experience of The Valley Parish was in 2018 when I took several services whilst the then Priest in Charge, Rev Kev, was on holiday. I fell in love with the people, the churches, and the amazingly beautiful countryside, and so was delighted when I was given the opportunity to serve here as your Parish Priest.

I didn’t have to move far as I was born and bred in Chichester and had been a member of the Weald and Downland Living Museum for more years than I care to remember, but it was still a real, but wonderful, culture shock to move from a busy city into the heart of the country. However, it didn’t take long for the wonderfully warm welcome we received from the people of The Valley to make us feel at home, and I know that if you are visiting us you will also be made to feel welcome and at home.

I hope that you will enjoy looking round our website and finding out more about our Parish and I look forward to welcoming you to one of our services soon.

The three parish churches of All Saints’ East Dean, The Blessed Virgin Mary Singleton, and St Andrew West Dean are all ancient buildings which sit in the Lavant Valley, north of Chichester in the South Downs National Park.  They serve the three large villages above and the smaller hamlets of Binderton, Charlton and Chilgrove.
